Best Outdoor Keypad Characteristics

Today’s Electronic keypads are highly efficient and get easily integrated with the existing networks. They are also called as rugged keypads as they can be installed in all types of climatic conditions. These also allow separation of the power and the data using the wiring closet. This is very efficient and also costs less.

Following are the basic characteristics:-

A simple connection for bi-directional communication
•    Host PC assigns COM port number to keypad and communicates bi-directionally with unit. Requires the installation of driver.
•    Keypad connects to host PC through regular USB port.
•    Communication is via the virtual COM port.
•    Application can control screen, sending characters to display and commands to clear.

Ideal for customer input and batch send

•    Device is ideal for use with existing application that requires customer information.
•    THE HID is a Plug and play outdoor keypad that requires no integration.
•    Unit displays on-screen numbers/ keystrokes as entered by the user. 'Backspace' key corrects information and ‘Enter’ sends string of characters and clears the screen for th next user.
•    USB powers the device which requires no drivers
•    User can order keypad with or without a trailing carriage return; some applications will see the carriage return as the command to move to the next filed of entry.

A reliable connection with different power options

•    Unit communicates via Serial connection, typically a 9 pin Sub ‘D’.
•    For custom applications, a PS/2 pass through powers the keypad form a powered PS/2 port. The Cable offers male and female PS/2.
•    A custom cable can take power form a powered serial port.
•    Alternative power option is via 5.5 mm jack plug in rear of integrated 9 pin sub 'D', regulated 5V DC.

For wired network use

•    Keypad provides full ethernet connectivity.
•    Any POE injector (e.g., IEEE802.3af) can power unit, with detecting injector. Variant can accept supply from regulated 5V DC.
•    Access control keypad requires single cable connection that enables monitoring from anywhere in the world with internet access.
•    Model offers Client or Server modes, leaving options open for user to create the ideal application.
•    Unit has access to configuration menu via Telnet or port connection, over network or internet.
•    Keypad can come with firmware option that sends SMTP messages to central "mail server" as alternative means of integration.
